We have started to really love blending Pinot Noir from each of our vineyards. We do this process entirely and exclusively together, and it epitomizes the confluence of art and science. We use our scientific backgrounds to begin with an analytic hypothesis-driven approach, but our love of art takes over once we start engaging our senses and letting the combinations take us in surprising directions. Our goal is to allow the complexity of the Willamette Valley to reveal itself in an honest representation of the vintage. We believe that we exceeded that goal in 2009, as it possesses the fruit-driven intensity that we expect from the vintage, but also has an elegant balance and acidity.
Dad: Tall, complex aromas. Boysenberries, blackberries and plums on palate. Minerals and stonefruit on finish. Balanced.
Fille: Well, it's finally here and if you liked our 2008 Willamette Valley, you will be excited that the 2009 is ready to become a dinner table staple. Its balanced profile of raspberry and cherry has a depth backed by a long finish. My dad and I generally agree on the flavor profiles when we taste, so it says a lot about the complexity of this wine that we each picked up on different dominant fruit flavors. It reminds me of a Mini Cooper- lots of zip and power packed into a lean profile. It's an old world classic with a touch of new world styling.
