Deux Vert Vineyard

Et Fille started making wines from the Deux Vert Vineyard in 2006. At that time and since, we have purchased Viognier grapes from Deux Vert. In 2008, we began purchasing pinot noir grapes from Deux Vert as well. We are getting equal amounts of wadensvil, 113 and 114 clones. We are excited to see how these will turn out.

Owned by Mike and Patty Green (2 Greens, Deux Vert), the Deux Vert Vineyard is in the Yamhill-Carlton District. The soil type is primarily Willakenzie. The vineyard faces due south. The upper elevation (yes, the viognier we source are near the top of the vineyard) is 390'. The viognier was planted in 1994.

We particularly like visiting Deux Vert because Mike is always trying some new trials, and it's fascinating to hear how they are designed and what the results are. One example is that Mike has tried spraying molasses (in very small quantities) on some grapes along with microorganisms that counteract the fungi that cause mildew. His theory was that it would help the beneficial microorganisms, and it did in fact make visible differences in the vigor of the grape plants. Besides that, Mike and Patty are a kick to talk to. And besides that, their dog Mika is Jessica's favorite.
